AN ANALYSIS OF LECTURER’S QUESTIONING STRATEGIES IN SPEAKING CLASS
Abstract
This research is about "Analysis of Lecturer's Questioning Strategy in Speaking Class". This study aims to see the questioning strategies used by lecturers in English speaking class and to find out how lecturers use questioning strategies in English speaking class. This research method used descriptive qualitative method. The participants of this research were 2 English lecturers who teach in speaking class and 10 students at English Department of Muhammadiyah Aceh University. In this research, interviews and questionnaires were used as a research instrument. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that the lecturers used types of questioning strategies such as: procedural questions, divergent questions, probing questions, specific questions, and open-ended questions. Lecturers use the questioning strategies in the classroom by always asking questions when start the teaching learning process and after explaining the learning material in class, that according to the material taught in class. The lecturers use the questioning strategies in the classroom by asking questions from starting class and after explaining the learning material in class. Also, the lecturers always use questioning strategies according to the material taught in class.
