The title of study is " The Use of Movie Subtitles in Teaching English at MTs
Baitul Arqam The study was intended to find out whether movie subttiles have
effect in teaching at MTs Baitul Arqam and find out the significant difference
between the student taught using English subtittle movies and without using
English subtittle Movies at Baitul Arqam. This research used quantitative
research design. The sample of this research was 14 students of MTs VII at Baitul
Arqam. To collect the data, the writer used test and questionnaire as an
instrument. The first result of this research shows that the English subtitles movie
have positive effect in teaching at Baitul Arqam. This can be seen from the
results of questionnare which indicated that the majority of student answered
strongly agree and agree. Besides, for the second result shows the significant
difference before and after using English subtitles movie in which the significance
value (0.00) is smaller than ∝ (0,05). Thus, the use of English movie subtittles in
teaching English is very helpful to ease students’ understanding in learning
English.
