Abstract
Indonesia is a country that continues to experience an increase in cases of
central obesity, namely 31.0% in 2018 and 36.8% in 2023. Aceh is one of the provinces
in Indonesia with a prevalence of central obesity, namely 34.3%. Obesity is the cause
of death in the world's population compared to underweight, so obesity is a problem
that needs serious treatment. This study aims to analyze factors related to the
incidence of central obesity in a group of adult women in the Montasik health center
working area in 2024.
This research method uses a cross-sectional design, with a population of all
adult women in the Montasik health center work area of Aceh Besar Regency, using
an accidental sampling technique to obtain 43 samples. The study was conducted by
checking cholesterol levels, measuring body weight, height and conducting
interviews with questionnaires. Then analyzed using the Chi-square test with SPSS at
a significance level of 95%.
The results of the univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents
were aged 40-59 years (62.8%) with almost all of them married (93%). Most
respondents were unemployed (72.1%) and 95.3% had low income levels, in terms of
education 55.8% of respondents had secondary education, in addition, 60.5% of
respondents had cholesterol levels in the normal range, 51.2% had a Body Mass Index
(BMI) in the normal category, and 69.8% had central obesity. The results of bivariate
analysis showed that marital status (p-value = 0.023), age (p-value = 0.030), BMI (pvalue = 0.033), had a significant relationship with the incidence of central obesity
while cholesterol levels (p-value = 0.439), income level (p-value = 0.482), occupation
(p-value = 0.205) education (p-value = 0.932) did not have a significant relationship.
Marital status, age, and BMI have a significant relationship to the incidence of
central obesity in adult women. The suggestion given by the researcher, Health
Centers and related agencies can provide education to the community about the
importance of maintaining health, by implementing a healthy lifestyle that includes a
balanced diet and sufficient physical activity.
